Halloween Inspiration (for next year)

Ok, I hate to divulge so early what I would like to be for Halloween next year, lest someone steals my awesome idea or ruins it for me in some way, but these photos inspired me, from the Dia de los Muertos festival at Hollywood Forever cemetery:

Maybe I will find a reason to use the idea before then. 30th birthday costume party perhaps! It would be really sweet to have my besties and I all dressed up like this (because our pin-up theme this year was a blast!)

The seed has been planted.....

The Boom Case

Saw this today and it made me think of the very retro case that Kristen got for Crystal for Christmas last year.....

Mr SiMo’s Boomcase Project recycles suitcases by making them into very portable very cool speakers. Each one is bespoke and works with iPods, iPhones and any device with a headphone jack yadda yadda yadda. The exciting bit is that the cases have chargers built-in and last for over seven hours. Bring it on (via Life Lounge).

I love this idea, and I would love to have a portable speaker set for my iPod for events like apple picking, picnics, BBQs, etc. I bet my parents have a few old suitcases in the attic that I might try to repurpose. What a wonderful way to recycle!

Couldn't Help But Be Touched...

I happened to run across the wedding video of Golriz and Devon, two people I've never met nor do I know, but whose handmade and original wedding is so beautifully captured in a short film by FullFrame Digital Cinema. Check out the film and I hope you were as touched by their joy, creativity, and ingenuity as I was!

Chairs!!

Check out these uber-cool chairs from Melbourne-based designer, Suzie Stanford. These French Tea Towel Chairs were designed for the Guillaume Brahimi Restaurant at the Melbourne Crown Casino.

I love the idea of a bold chair with a neutral room! I don't even have a house and I want to start a "tea towel fund" and save for one!!

Fairy Dust

Love this necklace. You fill it with sparkly powder, and when it is gently tapped, it sprinkles the powder on your chest through the little holes. Super neato!

Road Trip!!

One week from today we head South for the charms of Charleston, SC (with a D.C. pit stop!)

Some random fun facts to get us excited:

* Charleston is home to a 1,500 year old beautiful live oak tree, Angel Oak that is 65' high and 160' around!

* According to Claire of Gibson King, the restaurant Virginia's on King has delicious "Lowcountry" dishes including the best grits in the South!

* Our hotel The Hampton Inn Historic District is a renovated 19th Century railroad warehouse!

* The historic mansions in Charleston are famous for their "Joggling Boards" which were used for exercise and leisure as well as said to bring people together - literally by bouncing on them till your partner slipped closer!

Felty Fun

LOVE the cuff that Crystal posted (for some reason it would not let me comment there....)

My mom definitely knows how to do this technique, so you might be getting some felty stone mats in the near future:

I've just been alerted to The Bright Side Project, a website which has daily themed giveaways. Wahoo! The potential to win free, cool stuff!

Sharing my Etsy Favorites List: Molecular Muse

I wanted to share another shop off of my favorites list on Etsy, the shop of Molecular Muse. I'm all about anyone who can take their non-art related passions and create something artistic from it. That's exactly what Raven from Molecular Muse has done. Her molecular inspired jewelry is so great! It brings me back to the days when I took Biopsychology and Psychopharmacology- and TAed for those classes- and was obsessed with neurotransmitters....yay for being a dork!! Enjoy:

Caffeine molecule - perfect for a Monday morning!!

Seratonin - the happy maker!

Feeling un-inspired? Try some creativity on for size!

I'm also digging Raven's pink-accented hair!

Oh Rita...

Looking forward to Ladies Night tonight...Margarita Pizza, Wine, and Leap Year!!

Help!

I am in Pred's wedding in October.
She doesn't really get into the whole picking-out-dresses etc thing,
so we are keeping it very simple with a little satin number from david's bridal for the 4 of us in the bridal party.
It will have a lavender grosgrain belt and lavender underlay that peeks out at the bottom hem.
Kinda like this (but the one piece halter dress and I couldn't find the underlay):

The debate is: SHOES.
She doesn't want gold, I don't think silver will go, so keep your eyes open for options or share your suggestions!.

I know this isn't inspiring, but be inspired by helping it not be a "27 Dresses" moment!

Ha!

Just read about Jessica Hagy and her illustrations of graphs, charts, and diagrams on the Pikaland blog. I'm finding them hilariously accurate. One of my favorites is the relationship between joy and bacon:

Check out her blog with way, way more diagram-y goodness: http://thisisindexed.com/.

Sharing my Etsy Favorites List: Ruby's Lounge - Handmade Wilderness Project

I've been eyeing up the Handmade Wilderness Projects by Ruby's Lounge for quite some time now! These amazing pieces of artwork are created by artist, Jennifer Khoshbin. Feast your eyes:
